One of our most popular wild creatures, the Grey Squirrel
| The sight of squirrels freely running around the Arboretum has pleased many of the local residents. It was just a matter of time before the animals and birds adapted themselves to the situation. Now we await the massive planting of the entire perimeter and the new flower garden. | ||

Some facts about the Arboretum's Squirrels
| Squirrels are usually blamed for damaging sapling trees, digging up plants, killing nestling birds and numerous other "crimes". However there is no evidence of squirrel related tree damage at the Arboretum, bird problems are almost non existent, and there is very little evidence of plant damage. We can thank the popularity of the squirrels with the local community for this situation, it is the fact that the squirrels are so well fed by visitors that they have no, or little need to feed off tree bark, plants or birds' eggs. | ||
