Photographs on this Web Site All the photographs used are either original digital camera photos or scanned (Digitised) images from original sources. In many cases the old photographs have been digitally repaired and enhanced, the original scanned digital images are on average in excess of 4 megabytes and would not load onto a web page as they would be up to eight times the screen size. All photographs have been resized to an average of 500 pixels wide with a Jpeg compression of 40% in order to save web space and reduce download times - this has little or no effect on the viewing quality but seriously degrades the printable quality. If you require high quality images for printing purposes, or require copies of the original photos you should contact the owners of the individual images - any use of copyrighted images must carry the consent, and acknowledgement of the copyright owner. Reproduction of photos and other material not owned by the webmaster must be cleared by the respective copyright holder/s. Derby Museum Services and the Local Studies Library have a large selection of old photos, copies of which may be purchased. The East Midlands Photographic Project - Picture The Past has a very large collection of old photos from the whole region, which may be purchased See Picture The Past Log onto the Local Studies Library Website via our "Links" page.
